Explorers - The Overlook's Introductory Competitive Climbing Team
Explorers Team is Team Overlook's bridge between recreational and competitive climbing. If you are on the fence about whether a competitive or recreational experience would be best for your child, then the Explorers Team is the perfect choice for you. Members of this team have the opportunity to compete if they wish, but there is absolutely no pressure to do so. Explorers practices include a stronger focus on training and learning foundational climbing technique compared to the Recreational Team's focus on socialization and after-school fun.
Explorers Team only practices once per week; for young climbers who want more, consider these two options:
1) Explorers members may add on a Recreational Team practice for +$30/month, participating in one Explorers Team practice and one Recreational Team practice every week.
2) Explorers members who are interested in taking competitive climbing seriously should consider moving up to the Crushers Team; Crushers practice twice a week on Tuesdays AND Thursdays.

Crushers - The Overlook's Intermediate Competitive Climbing Team
Crushers Team is one of Team Overlook's two dedicated competitive teams. One step up from Explorers, Crushers Team is ideal for athletes ranging from just starting out, interested but perhaps unsure about how to break into the sport of climbing, to athletes who already have some experience competing in the USAC Youth Series and continue to grow their skills. Practices include a strong focus on training, fitness, and helping young athletes build the strong technical foundation that every great climber needs.
At the core of our program is the idea that participating in a competitive sport builds an invaluable foundation for healthily tackling achievement, pursuing goals, and adapting to shifting expectations in all aspects of life. We don't simply aim to build strong climbers, we aim to equip youth with the mental fortitude they need to chase whatever goals they choose to pursue in life, and to maintain a positive outlook even when knocked down.
